Project overview
An office network is only as maintainable as the cabinet the next technician opens. These photographs show ceiling and wall cabinets, ladder cabling work, a patched switch stack, a full comms rack and a ceiling access point.
Challenge
Growing offices accumulate routers on shelves, unmarked fly-leads, and Wi-Fi that dies when the boardroom fills. Support then means guessing which white box is live.
Environment
South African offices and fitted-out commercial floors. Organisation names withheld. The photos show ceiling-void cabinets, wall racks and a floor-standing comms cabinet — typical of sites we actually terminate.
Solution
We terminate into lockable cabinets, patch to labelled switches, lift cabling off the floor, and place business access points on the ceiling rather than a domestic router on a cupboard.
Technologies
Structured copper (Cat5e / Cat6 as the site requires), wall and ceiling cabinets, switching, UPS where the rack includes it, and ceiling-mount business Wi-Fi (including Aruba hardware on sites that already standardise on it). Naming a vendor describes what is in the photo — not an official partnership badge.
Implementation
Cabinet positions are agreed with the floor, then cabling, then active gear, then access points. Work on a live floor is done from a ladder with the void opened, not “after hours if we remember”.
Outcome
Cabinets are mounted, copper is patched, and wireless is on the ceiling. We do not publish a drop count or a “99.9% uptime” figure from these photographs.
