Project overview
A school needed student lab traffic kept apart from administration systems, with filtering that staff could live with.
Challenge
A school needed student lab traffic kept apart from administration systems, with filtering that staff could live with.
Environment
Education site in South Africa with a computer lab, admin offices, and a mixed device estate. School name and device counts withheld pending owner verification.
Solution
We designed a segmented network: lab, staff, and admin on separate paths, with content filtering on the student side and coverage aimed at where devices actually sit.
Technologies
Switched LAN with VLAN segmentation, classroom/lab Wi-Fi, filtering at the gateway, and documentation for the staff who inherit the network in December.
Implementation
Install windows followed the school calendar where possible so exams and admin deadlines were not the test environment.
Outcome
Lab and admin traffic were segmented with filtering on the student path. We do not publish a device count until it is verified.
Services involved
- Network infrastructure
- Business / campus Wi-Fi
- IT projects
- Limpopo on-site capability where the site required it
Client identity is withheld unless they have agreed to be named. Unverified percentages, device counts and uptime figures are not published. Photographs show the work; they are not a coverage map or a performance guarantee.
